Ranikhet

Ranikhet is situated at Almora district the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is a hill station and cantonment town. It is located in the Himalayas range and has the Military Hospital, Kumaon Regiment and Naga Regiment here that is maintained by the Indian Army.
Ranikhet is surrounding with the hills and greenery.  The pine, oak, and deodar forests are there and wildlife including leopard, leopard cat, mountain goat, sambar, Indian hare, Rhesus monkey, Dhole, langur, red fox, and porcupine.

Tourist Places in Ranikhet

Golf Course

Ranikhet Golf Course is located in KALIKA around 5 km from Ranikhet City. In Asia it is one of the highest golf courses. The green ground of the Golf Course at such height is Incredible. Outsiders can also take the membership of the golf club.

Ashiyana Park

Ashiyana Park is located in the middle of Ranikhet town. This Park attracts the tourists specially children. It is designed & developed on jungle theme by Ranikhet Cant.

Rani Jheel

Rani Jheel is situated near Nar Singh Stadium. Rani Jheel provides cool atmosphere. Tourists enjoy the ride of Boats and relax here. Because of cool atmosphere a lot of tourists visit here for relaxation.

Babar Khola

Babar Khola is located around 5 km from Majhkali.  It is a Village which looks like Scottish countrysides. It is surrounding with the hills and greenery that includes Leopard, Himalayan Black Bear etc. From this place Main Garhwal Himalayan ranges can be seen such as Nanda Devi Massif, Nanda Ghunti, Trishul Complex, Panchachuli and Nanda Kot etc.

Mankameshwar Temple

This temple is made by the Kumaon regiment and attached to the Nar Singh Maidan. There is a Gurudwara and a Shawl factory opposite the temple.

Binsar Mahadev

Binsar Mahadev Temple is located in the middle of beautiful deodar trees. Binsar Mahadev has a temple also which dedicated to shiv. An attractive stream is flowing very near to the Binsar Mahadev Temple which improves this holy place natural beauty.

Haidakhan Temple

Haidakhan Temple is located around 4 km from Ranikhet. Haidakhan Temple is also known as Hairakhan Temple or Chilianaula temple which is dedicated to God Shiv. It was built by Shri Haidakhan Maharaj. From Haidakhan Temple, splendid views of the Himalayan peaks are visible. It is the best place for picnicking. The dam complex is open throughout the year. The views of the huge Himalayan peaks are enchanting and charming from Bhalu Dam.

Majkhali

Majkhali is set about 12 km from Ranikhet on the way to Almora. Majkhali is a picnic place from where tourists can see close view of the snowy Himalayas. It offers peaceful atmosphere. Fair is also held here during festivals that shows the kumaoni culture.

Katarmal (Sun Temple)

Katarmal is set around 25 km from Ranikhet. This temple is more than 800 years old and an example of complicated sculpturing. Katarmal temple is dedicated to sun God and is the second most significant temple after the Konark Sun Temple in Orissa.

Tarikhet

Tarikhet is situated around 8 Km from Ranikhet.  It is well known for the Gandhi Kuti and the temple of Golu Devta in the Kumaon region.

Syalikhet

Syalikhet is situated around 25 Km from Ranikhet. It is surrounding with green jungle and apple orchards. Syalikhet is a scenic place with unparalleled beauty.  The famous temple of Syahi Devi temple is very famous here.

KRC Museum (Kumaon Regimental Centre)

KRC Museum is well maintained by the Indian Army - Kumaon Regiment and the Naga Regiment. The museum has a wide collection the various weapons, flags of enemies that were captured by the army during wars. One can know at this museum about the stories of the First and the Second Param Vir Chakra and as well list of all the Army Generals who belonged to the Kumaon Regiment. Besides this one can know at this museum about the Contributions of the Regiment during the World Wars, during the Indo-China war and the Pakistan war and during Kargil. The Photography is not allowed inside the Museum.

Jhula Devi temple

Jhula Devi temple is located near Chaubatia around 7 km from the Ranikhet. According to the villagers that leopards and tigers used to attack local villagers. So the villagers prayed to Maa Durga for save themself. Once Goddess Durga came into one villager's dream and told to excavate her idol. This temple was built at the place where the Goddess Durga's idol was found. Pilgrims come here to make a wish from Goddess Jhula Devi and after fulfilled the wise they come again for offering a bell to the temple. Besides bells Pilgrims offer dried coconut and Prasad to the Goddess. This place is very pleasant and calm and gives a spiritual peace.

Ram Mandir

Ram Mandir is located in the vicinity of Jhula Devi temple. It is dedicated to God Ram. Ram Mandir is not only a temple but also it is a monastery where students are taught ancient vedic in direction of Sant Sri Mouni Maharaj. Who have interest in leaning vedas must visit this temple.

Chaubatia Gardens

Chaubatia Gardens is situated around 10 Km from Ranikhet. It contains farm of apricots, peaches, and almonds and is well-known for apple orchards. This place also offers the picturesque views of Himalayas. Not only the fruits but also fresh juices and honey can be purchase from the garden store.

Bhalu Dam or Baludham

Bhalu Dam is an artificial small lake. It is surrounding with natural, calm and panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges. A small and beautiful garden near the dam is fabulous. St. Bridget's Church is also very old church in Ranikhet.

How to Reach

By Air: The nearest airport is Pantnagar Airport. It is located about 110 km from the city. Private and Government Buses, cabs and rented taxis can be taken easily from outside of the airport to reach the Ranikhet.
By Rail: The Nearest railway station is the Kathgodam railway station. It has good train connectivity with other major stations Such as Delhi. Kathgodam railway station is also well connected to others tourist places in Uttrakhand.
By Road: Ranikhet has good road connectivity with various part of the country such as Delhi, Haridwar, Haldwani and Dehradun. State transport buses are regularly available. Sleeper and A/c buses are available from Delhi (332Km), Dehradun (345 Km), Nainital (56 Km), Ramnagar (96 Km) and other parts of the Uttarakhand. This journey is quite cheap and comfortable.

Best time to Visit

Ranikhet can be visited any time of the year. The best time is to visit from April to June. These months are summer or spring season in the country. People want to escape this heat and prefer to enjoy in Ranikhet.  November to February is the winter season and people who love the snow can visit the RaniKhet.
