Mussoorie
is a hill station and located in the Dehradun District in Uttarakhand. Mussoorie
is also famous as The Queen of the Hills. It is around 35 km far from the Dehradun
and 290 km
from New Delhi. Mussorie is set in foothills of the Garhwal Himalayan area. Mussoorie
is at an average height of 6,578
feet in the northeast side is the Himalayan snow range and
in the south side is the Doon Valley and Shiwalik ranges. The second highest
point (7,464 ft )
is the Lal Tibba in Landour.

Mussoorie
Lake is located on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road and 6 km far from Mussoorie.
Mussoorie Lake was made by Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority. Tourists enjoy the views of Doon Valley from
the lake. Pedal boats facilities are
available which attract tourists.
Kempty Falls
Kempty
Falls is a waterfall. It is situated in Ram Gaon and Kempty in the Tehri
Garhwal District. It is 13 kilometers away from Mussoorie and 45 kilometers far
from Dehradun. The Kempty Falls area is surrounded by high mountain ranges at the
height of 4500 feet.
Kempty
Falls were developed by British officer John Mekinan. It was developed as a
tourist destination around 1835. Kempty Name maybe derived from the word
camp-tea. A stream of water starting from the village Banglow ki kandi reaches
in Kempty and falls from 4,500 ft. Thereafter
it splits into five other cascades.
Lake Mist

Mist is located on the Mussoorie-Kempty road around 5 km before Kempty Falls.
Through which flows the Kempty River includes its many small waterfalls. Lake
Mist Resort offers accommodation, restaurant and boating.
Bhatta Falls

Falls is located near the village of Bhatta on the Mussoorie-Dehradun Road. The
falls is 7 km far from Mussoorie and 3km from Bhatta.
Jharipani Fall

Fall is located on the Mussoorie-Jharipani road. It is 8.5 km away from
Mussoorie.
Mossy Fall

is situated 7 km from Mussoorie. It is surrounded by a dense forest.
Lal Tibba
Lal
Tibba is also known as Depot Hill due to its previous use as a military depo.
It is the highest point in Mussoorie and can be seen the views of the town and
its surroundings. A Japanese telescope was installed at Lal Tibba in 1967 to
show the views of Himalayan areas including Badrinath, Kedarnath, Banderpunch.
Municipal Garden
The
Municipal Garden is around 2 km far via Waverly Convent School road on foot. It
is an artificial mini-lake which offers paddle boats facilities.
Camel's Back Road
Camel's
Back Road includes nature walk. A Road is a shape of a camel's hump and this
road named after it. This road has hotels and motels and there is an oldest
Christian church St Mary's, is above Mall Road.
Nahata Estate
It is
also known as Childer's Lodge. It is a property owned by the Harakh Chand
Nahata family which is spread more than 300 acres. Nahata Estate is the highest
point of Mussoorie nearby Lal Tibba.
Gun Hill
Gun
Hill is very famous place because of the second highest Peak in Mussoorie afte
Lal Tibba. This place can be reached by cable car from the Mall road. There is a
Cannon in Gun Hill which is previously used. Britishers had done the reckless
firing in this area. Hence this area is known as Gun Hill.
Sir George Everest's House
Sir
George Everest's House located around 6 km from Gandhi Chowk and a walkable
distance from Library Bazaar. There are the remains of the building and
laboratory of Sir George Everest at the Park Estate. Sir George Everest was
Surveyor-General of India from 1830 to 1843. The world's highest peak Mt.
Everest is named after him. The site shows a beautiful view of Doon Valley and
Aglar River valley and on the other side an attractive view of the peaks of the
Himalayan.
Happy Valley
Happy
Valley is situated in west of Mussoorie’s Dalai Hill. From here the mountain
ranges of Jaunpur and Nag-Tibba can be seen. There is a Tibetan Monastery
inside the valley and shows a nice view of Hathipaon.
Nag Devta Temple

Devta Temple is located on Cart Mackenzie Road on the road to Dehradun. It is
far about 6 km from Mussoorie. The
ancient Nag Devta Temple is devoted to God Shiv. It provides a view of
Mussoorie and the Doon Valley.
Jwalaji Temple

Temple is located at the top of Benog Hill, around 9 km from Mussoorie. Temple
has an idol of the Goddess Durga. Temple is on the Benog Hill which provides a
view of the valley of the Aglar River.
Cloud End
Cloud
End is surrounded by deodar jungle. The bungalow is made in 1838 by a British
major. This Bungalow has been converted to a hotel now.
Van Chetna Kendra

Chetna Kendra is located around 11 km from Library Point. It is 840 acres
sanctuary which was established in 1993.
Benog Wildlife Sanctuary
Benog
Wildlife Sanctuary is situated about 11 km from Library Point. It provides a
forest habitat for local birds and animals and remains open for all tourists.
Mall Road
Mall
Road is a shopping area at the Centre of Mussoorie. On the Mall Road there are
shops, cafes, Tibetan market and a Methodist church. Tourists can purchase
books, clothes, Artificial Jewelry and local items from here and enjoy the
food.

is a hill station which is located in the Garhwal Himalayan range. It is set 24
km far from the hill station of Mussoorie. The climate is very cool and
pleasant in summer and winter both. The summer temperatures remain around 20 to
25 °C while winter temperatures remain between 7 °C and -1 °C.

Department of Uttarakhand. They are in Dhanuti Hill areas that are protected of

such as walking over the flying fox and riding horses. Tourists can also plant
a tree species in the memory of their beloved. This plantation is called as
memory sapling plantation.
How to Reach Mussoorie
By Air:
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport.
It is located about 60 km from the city. Private and Government Buses, cabs and
rented taxis can be taken easily from outside of the airport to reach the Mussoorie.
By
Rail: The Nearest railway station is the Dehradun railway station. It has good
train connectivity with other major stations such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata,
Allahabad and Lucknow. Dehradun railway station is also well connected to
others tourist places in Uttrakhand such as Haridwar.
By
Road: Mussorie has good road connectivity with various part of the country such
as Delhi, Shimla, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun. State transport buses are
regularly available. Sleeper and A/c buses are available from Delhi, Shimla and
other parts of the Uttarakhand. This journey is quite cheap and comfortable.
Best time to Visit
Mussoorie
can be visited any time of the year. The best time is to visit from March to
June. These months are summer or spring season in the country. People want to
escape this heat and prefer to enjoy in Mussoorie. November to February is the winter season and
people who love the snow can visit the Mussoorie.
