Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Delhi
The Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is one of the Main Sikh
pilgrimage hub in Delhi, is placed on Ashok Road with close to the Connaught
Place.
History
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Delhi
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was initially a bungalow of Raja
Jai Singh who was an Indian ruler the in the seventeenth century. It was recognized as Jaisinghpura Palace.
In the seventeenth century it was the royal
residence of Raja Jai Singh. It is said that in 1664. The eighth Sikh Guru Guru
Har Krishan Sahib Ji came to visit the King and relieved individuals who were contracted
with smallpox and cholera pestilence by distributing them water from the tank.
That water tank, utilized by the Guru, still it is inside the Gurudwara and is
accepted to have the medicinal properties. The Gurudwara and its Sarovar are toady
a place of great worship for Sikhs.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Delhi
The Gurudwara complex has a kitchen, a huge (sacred)
lake, a school, and a craftsmanship display. At the Gurudwara, guests are
mentioned to cover their hair and not to wear shoes. Help to outsiders, head
scarves, and shoe-disapproving of administration can be found inside the
compound and all are free of cost. Volunteer will help keep the shoes in the
shoe-disapproving of room, and cleaning the areas of the Gurudwara.
The Gurudwara complex has moreover a Langar Hall, a
library, and a hospital, a higher secondary school, Baba Baghel Singh
Museum, A new "Yatri Niwas" (Hostel), and
multi-level parking space.
The Gurudwara Bangla sahib premises has the main
prayer hall (containing the Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs. The
Gurudwara and Langar Hall are now air-conditioned.
There is a concept of Langar in all sikh Gurudwaras
everywhere in the world. All the people of any race or religion can take Langar
(holy vegetarian food). The food in these langars is ready by using Gurusikhs
who work in Gurudwara. Volunteers are constantly welcome to assist in serving
meals to the devotees. People from any faith are welcome inner Gurudwara and no
discrimination is made of their coming inside and praying. Inside the complex,
a complete white marble work is done within the whole location. Bangla Sahib
seems truly lovely from a distance with a really perfect mixture of white
constructing and Golden dome.
Important Information For Visitors
- The Gurudwara is open 24 hours in all days of the week.
- You need to wear modest clothes and cover your head within the Gurudwara premises.
- You must remove your shoes before entering the Gurudwara.
- Special meetings and prayers are organized on the occasion of Guru Har Krishan's birth anniversary.
