About Kumbh

The word ‘Kumbh’ arises from ‘kumbhak’ ( pitcher of elixir of immortality).
According to Hindu Mythlogy, Gods and demons fought during Samudra Manthan (churning of the Ocean). Manthan had been done to extract out the ambrosia (Amrit) from the depth of the ocean. They fought over the pitcher (Kumbh) of Amrit (nectar of immortality). Compilation of extraction the Amrit was filled in a Kumbh (pot). Gauda (vehicle of Lord Vishnu) pick the Amrit pot and gone far away from the eyes of demons to keep safe this Kumbh. During this time he dropped few drops on earth at 4 places as Haridwar, Ujjain, Prayag and Nashik.  It is said to have taken twelve divine days which is alike to twelve human years and therefore, the Mela is celebrated every twelve year. Kumbh Mela is one of the most well-known holy place where devotees come to attain spiritual clarity and wash off sins in the ritual bathing in the holy river.

Kumbh Mela is one of the most famous fairs where devotees come to receive spiritual clarity and take a bath in Triveni Sangam, Prayagar Raj (Allahabad).
It is the land of holy by the meeting of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. The city in Uttar Pradesh  will host Kumbh Mela 2019 sightseeing the ancient temples, monuments, and several tourist places like Hanuman Mandir and Mankameshwar.

Raj Ghat - Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi Raj Ghat is a memorial of   Mahatma Gandhi where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated in 1948. The ghat is located in the banks of River Yamuna.
